Privacy policy
Hot Range is a shot timer. It is built so that your training data never leaves your phone. This policy explains exactly what the app touches and why.
The short version
- No account. No ads. No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- The microphone is used only while a string or calibration is running. Audio is analysed in memory on your phone and is never recorded to a file, stored, or uploaded.
- Your strings, drills, setups and notes are stored only on your device.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play (or the App Store) and by RevenueCat, our subscription provider.
Microphone
Hot Range asks for microphone access to hear shots, dry-fire clicks and its own start beep. The audio stream is processed in real time to find the moment each shot happens. Only the resulting shot times and a small, low-resolution loudness outline (used to draw the waveform on the review screen, one value every 5 milliseconds) are saved. No sound can be reconstructed from that outline. Nothing is sent off the device.
Data stored on your device
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Shot times, splits, par times, drill names, notes, dry-fire results, setups | Your log, trends and personal bests |
| Settings (start delay, detection, beep, theme) | So the timer behaves the way you set it |
| Measured speaker delay of your phone | Accurate timing from the start beep |
This data stays in the app's private storage. It is included in your phone's own encrypted backup only if you have device backup turned on. You can export it yourself (CSV, Pro) or delete all of it at any time in Settings → Erase all data. Uninstalling the app also deletes it.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Hot Range Pro, payment is processed by Google Play or Apple. We never see your card details. To know whether Pro is active on your device, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-specific user ID, your purchase receipts, the app version, and basic device information (such as OS version, country and language). RevenueCat processes this on our behalf only to validate and restore purchases. We do not link it to your name or email, and it contains none of your training data.
What we don't do
- We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, or identifiers for advertising.
- We don't sell or share personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
- We don't record audio.
Children
Hot Range is intended for adults 18 and over who train with firearms. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Retention, deletion and security
Training data stays on your device until you delete it (Settings → Erase all data) or uninstall the app. Purchase records held by RevenueCat are kept while your subscription or purchase is active and afterwards for as long as needed for tax and accounting records. To have them deleted, email support@neonfrenchie.com and we will delete your RevenueCat customer record within 30 days; the stores keep their own records under their own policies. All transfers to RevenueCat use HTTPS.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data on our own servers, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on request beyond purchase records held by the stores and RevenueCat. For those, contact us and we will help, or contact Google or Apple directly. Residents of the EEA, UK and California have the right to ask what data is held about them; the answer for Hot Range is the purchase record described above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
